Looking for two rowers and possibly cox
Quote from Guest on May 29, 2025, 2:20 pmWe are a crew coming from south west England where we row our equivalent of Church boats - Cornish Pilot gigs. These are sea going fixed seat wooden boats and have 6 rowers and a cox (centuries ago they used to also be used as lifeboats).
We will be rowing a fixed seat church boat on Friday at 3pm and currently I am 2 rowers short, and I am not sure if my cox can make it.
I rowed last year in one of the Sulkava boats; most of us have rowed the Great River Race in London, and we train for long rowing events (usually no more than 4 hours because of our limitations of the tide). 2 attached pictures are of two of our crews in the Isles of Scilly World Pilot Gig Rowing championships at the start of May 2025.
We speak very little Finnish (sadly). So if you want to be an honorary English rower for the day.....
